Coho Oceanfront Lodge in Lincoln City, Oregon

While there are many boutique hotel’s on Oregon’s central coast. Coho Oceanfront Lodge in Lincoln City ticks all the boxes for location, views, cleanliness and affordability. Working our way up the Oregon coast from Florence, with an overnight stay in Nye Beach, my husband and I prefer to stay at upscale hotels. 

While there’s nothing wrong with budget beach hotels on the coast, I like a fabulous ocean view. If the ocean may be viewed from the comfort of a soaking tub or in front of a cozy gas fireplace, all the better. I’ll be adding Coho Oceanfront Lodge to my return list next time I visit Lincoln City. 

Ours was a 2-night winter stay on the Oregon coast. We had the bonus of an unusual February snow flurry during our mid-week stay. We were happy that we added on a charcuterie board and bottle of wine to our stay so we could linger in our room longer. You’ll notice the beer and wine offered for sale as soon as you check into the Coho Lodge. 

Coho Oceanfront Lodge hotel highlights

The 69-room Coho Oceanfront Lodge recently went through a renovation, enlarging the hotel lobby, adding a lovely outdoor firepit area and updating rooms and suites, among others. This hotel, along with several in Oregon and Washington, are all family-owned. Recently, I learned that Coho Oceanfront Lodge was the first hotel acquisition for the family. When run correctly, family-owned properties feel a bit more like staying with a friend, rather than a corporate hotel chain. 

I confess, fresh baked cookies served in the hotel lobby are an added bonus for me. When hotels give me the option of upgrading to a romance package or wine and cheese plate, I typically accept the challenge. 

Hotel amenities and guest rooms

Like their Inn at Nye Beach property, Coho Oceanfront Lodge is divided between adult-only and family-friendly wings. We stayed mid-week, in the winter, so guests were mainly kid-free. In the busy summer season, I imagine the room divisions are appreciated for those traveling without children. While I have nothing against kids or pets, I enjoyed this option. 

We stayed in one of 12 Sunset Suites. Our room, located on the ground floor of the 3-story property, was perfect for looking out to the Pacific Ocean. The hotel is located on a bluff with no direct access to the beach. However, the beach access is very close by – half a block walk. 

Our hotel room included a hooded logo robe, very important when walking from the indoor pool, hot tub or sauna. 

Breakfast, cookies and coffee at Coho Lodge 

Breakfast, afternoon cookies and fresh coffee from Portland Coffee Roasters are included in your hotel stay. My husband appreciated the French Press for fresh coffee in the hotel room. I liked the warm-from-the-oven cookies. As far as complimentary continental breakfasts are concerned, my husband said it was pretty good. 

We look forward to returning to Lincoln City in the summer or fall to try out the outdoor firepits. Room prices at Coho Oceanfront Lodge in Lincoln City start at $119 and climb to $334 on a weekday.
