When you are driving hard from point A to point B, knowing that you have a hotel room reservation is a good thing. Baker City Best Western Sunridge Inn was clean and friendly. A good choice for families or folks traveling with pets, Best Western hotels are consistent performers in my book. This 3-star Baker City, Oregon hotel met all of my requirements on a recent road trip.
Driving from Denver, Colorado to Eugene, Oregon, Baker City was a good stopping point for us. The 2-story hotel, formerly a Choice Hotel, was now part of the Best Western umbrella of hotels. We are Best Western Rewards members, so we receive points toward future hotel stays and flexible rates. That, combined with free WiFi, affordable rates and pet-friendly rooms makes it a winning Best Western hotel selection for our family.
Best Western Sunridge hotel lobby
With 156 rooms, the Baker City Best Western Sunridge Inn is divided into 5 buildings. The Eastern Oregon hotel is non-smoking and safe for solo travelers. Check-in to the hotel was easy and quick. The breakfast area was pointed out to us, with hours of operation and our room cards were handed out.
With king and queen rooms generally available, we stayed in a queen room with two beds on the first floor. My husband was happy with this choice, as it meant he could park his truck right in front of our hotel room to keep an eye on the vehicle.
The double queen beds would be great for traveling with young kids. The hotel room offered a flat screen tv, air-conditioning, a desk, chair and coffee maker. There was the standard mini fridge and small microwave oven under the entertainment center. Blackout curtains were included for the light-sensitive sleepers.
The bathroom was a shower/bathtub combination. A hairdryer was available, too. (I always end up traveling with a travel-size hair dryer because I worry that the hotel won’t have one.)
As mentioned, we stayed on the first floor of this 2-level Baker City hotel. For those traveling with pets, the first floor rooms included a small patio with table and two chairs.
Our dog-friendly room rented for $145.50 including tax. Breakfast was included with the rate and included hot items such as eggs, sausage and pancakes, as well as juice, coffee, cereal and yogurt. Senior discounts and AAA rates are available. You can also compare rates and look for a deal on a booking site such as Booking.com or Hotels.com.
If you are traveling with children, the Best Western Sunridge Inn offers an outdoor, heated swimming pool. Additionally, there was a mini basketball hoop for pool games. Behind the swimming pool was a patio area with three tables, chairs and umbrellas for enjoying the warm weather. Several lounge chairs were also available for sun worshippers.
As is typical with hotel pools, there was no lifeguard on duty.
