When I headed to Donna’s Premier Lodging in Berlin, Ohio, I was by myself. Still, romance was a teaser theme in my cottage stay. Votive candles around the heart shaped jacuzzi and rose petals are part of the romance package. I brought them home. These are among the add-ons paired with luxury in Amish country. My cottage was equipped with a gas-log fireplace, a kitchenette, an entertainment center with a TV/DVD player and all that made me not want to leave.
I could have added on the chocolate covered strawberries, chocolates and a rose bouquet if this was truly a romantic getaway. There are several other add-ons with romance in mind. In addition to cottages, at Donna’s Premier Lodging. there are cedar log cabins, chalets and suites. A grab-and-go breakfast is included.
Berlin is a charming town that is a don’t miss stop in this part of Ohio. There are antique and specialty stores and Amish made goods. If you do go and you want wine or champagne, order it ahead from Donna’s. Or bring it with you. Berlin is a dry town. I forgot this and drove to Millersburg a few miles away.
Nancy Brown’s stay at Inn at Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon paired the Romance Package with stunning views of the Pacific at this boutique hotel. Her king deluxe suite’s bathtub even had an ocean view. This 32-room hotel is eco-friendly with an upscale vibe. The romance package includes rose petals on the bed, a long-stemmed red rose, sparkling wine or sparkling cider, and local artisan chocolates. Commemorative champagne flutes or wine glasses are also included.
For those who like the beach with chocolate, the Beach Bonfire Package delivers. This comes with a S’mores kit (chocolate bars, marshmallows and graham crackers) roasting stick, firewood, a beach mat and a beach bag. The Inn at Nye Beach has spa services, board game rentals and firepits.
A favorite inn feature is the outdoor infinity spa that overlooks the ocean. In the morning, a complimentary made-from-scratch breakfast arrives at your door. Coffee lovers will appreciate the fresh ground coffee from the local Portland Roasting Coffee Co. Book your stay at the Inn on Expedia.
When Mary Jo Manzanares headed to Pine River Ranch, she found rustic luxury in the woods where a dip in Lake Wenatchee is steps away. This getaway near Leavenworth, Washington has all one needs for R&R. In her cabin suite, she found a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave as part of the well-stocked kitchenette. Bathroom amenities include Beekman’s 1802 Mercantile products. I’ve tried those myself. They are terrific. The bathtub, set in locally sourced rocks, is an unusual and an impressive cabin feature.
The add-ons are extensive here. In addition to Chocolate Dipped Delectables, there are several wine and beer options. Pine River Ranch has the newly added Love My S’mores which is all the fixings for six s’mores. Add a rose bouquet for a truly romantic occasion. Book your romantic stay with the ranch at Booking.com.
At The Bradley in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the season of love is lasting through December 2023. Add a bottle of Conquilla Cava Brut Rose and half-dozen chocolate-covered strawberries to a king room. When I stayed at The Bradley, a 124-guest room hotel, I was enamored by the visual artistry. It pops with gorgeous colors and patterns. Paisley, floral and bird motifs on fabric and wallpaper are signature designs of hotel co-founder by Barbara Bradley Baekaard of the Vera Bradley fashion label.
Located in downtown Ft. Wayne, The Bradley is a perfect location for exploring this Midwest city that has much to see within walking distance. At the hotel, dine at Arbor, the first-floor restaurant or Birdies, the roof-top bar. Book your stay at Expedia.
