Beauty, luxury, and ease describe the Corinthia Lisbon. Step inside to experience first-class hospitality with a relaxed elegance. Originally a family-owned hotel, Corinthia Lisbon has maintained the core philosophy of its founder, Alfred Pisani.
If you’re seeking a five-star hotel in Lisbon, you can’t go wrong here. Though it is not in the historic center, in many ways, I felt this location was a better choice because it’s not as crowded as the city center, and it’s only four miles from the airport. The hotel provides a shuttle to the historic Alfama District so you can explore the exciting capital city of Portugal, and it’s a bit like having a personal driver.
Dining and attractions near the Corinthia Lisbon
The Corinthia Lisbon is located in the business district bordering the Avenidas Novas neighborhood, both upmarket areas. There is so much to see you could spend a day or two here and never go to the historic area. Here are a couple of suggestions.
One of the top attractions in Lisbon is the Agua Livres Aqueduct built by King John V in the 18th century. It supplied water to the city of Lisbon until 1960! And it’s visible from the Corinthia Hotel.
Nearby Park Edward VII is sixty-four acres of sculptured gardens with a gentle uphill slope and a view of the sea.
El Corte Ingles is a very exclusive shopping center within ten minute walk of the hotel. There are sixty-six designer stores including some tech gadgets. The upper level is a gourmet food court with outlets from world-famous chefs and sweet treats, like Godiva. The food court has terrace dining with expansive views of the city from the terrace. Bonus: Non-EU residents can shop duty-free.
Just steps from the hotel are many restaurants serving a variety of cuisines from seafood to Italian. Try Lagar do Xisto serving delicious Portuguese dishes, at reasonable prices.
Dining at the Corinthia Lisbon
Portugal is a great destination for foodies. Corinthia Lisbon honors Portugal’s food culture with several options for fine dining on-site. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and 24-hour room service are available at the hotel.
Sete Colinas
Sete Colinas restaurant has one of the most extravagant breakfast buffets I have ever experienced. Everything from fresh fruit, salads, made-to-order eggs, charcuterie, cheeses, cereals, and freshly baked pastries is available. Splurge and try at least one sweet treat. Portugal is known for incredible desserts.
Evra
Evra is open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant explores traditional Portuguese cuisine beautifully presented with modern gastronomic flair. Try the catch of the day or octopus rice.
Rooms at the Corinthia Lisbon
The 518 luxurious rooms range from the smallest, a superior twin room at 258 square feet; to the largest, the presidential suite at 1,679 square feet. Most suites have captivating city views.
The Corinthia bed is several layers of foam with ten inches dedicated to viscoelastic foam, developed by NASA. And then there are the linens. Let’s just say you’ll melt into the bed.
Modern amenities include integrated technology placing USB ports next to the bed. My room had a round table that could double as a desk, a dining space, or a place to meet with other guests. All rooms come with multiple plug sockets, and ports for UK, EU, and USA outlets, high-speed internet, Nespresso, and tea-making facilities.
Pro tip: Be sure to browse the “offers” tab on the website. If you book a suite it may come with some perks such as early check-in, a complimentary thirty-minute spa treatment, and round-trip transportation to the airport.
Bathrooms
The marble bathrooms are spacious and well-lit. There are tropical rain showers as well as hand shower attachments, and ESPA amenities. Some bathrooms have large soaking tubs and double sinks.
