The reviews are starting to hit for my new Travel Writing 2.0 book and apparently people don’t mind that I’m a cynical bastard who isn’t serving up juicy come-on promises in every chapter. So here are a few links of where to read about it. Here’s the problem though: it takes quite a while for readers to chime in on Amazon. So if you are a working or aspiring travel writer willing to break the ice on the book’s Amazon page, I’ve got a free book with your name on it. Keep reading.
But first, thanks to these folks:
Liz Lewis has a review up today on the Perceptive Travel blog and says, “Travel Writing 2.0 is a gold mine of information, a modern day guidebook for those interested in the business and marketing side of travel writing, with chapters on niche development, self promotion, and online income streams. A definite must read for both new and experienced travel writers interested in developing and expanding their online presence.”
Pam Mandel at Nerd’s Eye View gave it a shout-out earlier this month.
Erin Dalpini at Freelance-Zone.com reviewed the book last week and there’s an interview with me there as well.
I talk with Rolf Potts of Vagabonding fame about the book on his blog.
David Stanley profiled it last month on his South Pacific blog.
Check out the travel writing blog that goes with the book to see a weekly interview with a different successful writer.
Want a copy yourself? Two people in the U.S. who promise to review it on Amazon will get a hard copy version. Two that live outside the U.S. will get an e-book (PDF) copy. Leave a comment below stating where you live and I’ll pick winners at random on Friday, October 8, 2010.
* WE HAVE WINNERS – Jeannie from NYC and Maria from Minneapolis will receive a paperback. Susan from Cancun and Troy from Australia will receive a PDF e-book. (I’m feeling generous, so a few other people who commented will get a PDF if they want one, so watch your e-mail!)
