If fitness is important to you during your travels, Even Hotels are your work out partner. Relax. No sweat is required here. Yet it is easy to keep active at Even Hotel Eugene. The Oregon-based hotel will keep kids, athletes, adventurers and business travelers happy and stress-free.
If you are traveling with children, pets or students, this 4-star hotel will earn high marks. Check-in is easy. So easy, in fact, that I had time for a walk around Eugene after dropping my bags in my room. I was on the top floor of this 4-story hotel. My king deluxe room looked out over the parking lot – good for those travelers wanting to keep an eye on their vehicle.
The first thing I noticed were the flavored water containers near the hotel lobby. I always travel with my water bottle and these water stations made it easy for me to keep hydrated during my stay.
After receiving my card key (and a bag of snacks because I’m an IHG member, staying at an IHG hotel) I headed to the fourth floor. Upon entering my hotel room, I was pleased to see a yoga mat and balance ball. My room even had an area designed for a quick work out.
Wellness hotel for everybody
You don’t have to be a fitness junkie to keep active at Even Hotel Eugene. True, there is an athletic studio with treadmills, stationery bicycles and elliptical machines, but you can walk on by. Instead, play a game of ping pong or swim a few laps in the indoor pool. There’s also complimentary bikes available for cruising to nearby Alton Baker Park.
Runners and dog walkers should pick up a running route card at the front desk. These are also good loops for bike rides, as this part of Eugene is fairly flat.
After a workout or long day on the University of Oregon campus, relax in the hot tub next to the swimming pool. On my staycation, I met a professional poker player lounging in the pool. He said he always stays at Even Hotel Eugene whenever he’s here for a poker tournament. He rated the hotel a 10.
Drinking and dining at Even Hotel Eugene
I confess that I didn’t hang out at the bar during my staycation. I’m an alumni of University of Oregon and I prefer to watch sports activities at Hayward Field or football games with fellow Duck fans at Autzen Stadium, both near the hotel.
I did check out the Even Kitchen & Bar menu and now know where to go for a Macaroni & Cheese bowl or a Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwich fix. Even Kitchen also serves Portland Coffee Roasters and the in-room Keurig coffee maker features Portland Coffee Roasters pods, as well.
If you don’t have time to visit the University of Oregon bookstore for duck merchandise, the hotel offers a small selection of shirts and souvenirs in the gift shop. If you have time, visit the Fifth Street Market for unique shops, restaurants and a swanky hotel with a rooftop restaurant.
Room rates at Even Hotel Eugene start at $129 and max out at $499 depending on the time of year. On my visit, dog-friendly rooms were an additional $25 per night. Of course, service dogs are allowed, as well. You can book your stay directly online with the hotel or look for a better rate on Booking.com, Expedia, or other online hotel booking site.
