At the Dominican Republic’s all-inclusive Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort you can soak up the sun, as well as good value. The three-star resort near Juan Dolio is just 30 minutes from Las Americas Airport.
Those watching their pocketbooks will appreciate getting deals through lower-cost airlines such as Arajet that fly into the airport closest to the capital city of Santo Domingo. From there it’s a quick trip to Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort. In comparison, the resorts of Punta Cana are a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Las Americas Airport.
Choose Sea, Garden, or Pool View Rooms
Of the Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort’s 447 rooms, you can pick one with views of the sea, garden, or pool. Categories are Standard, Deluxe, and Superior, and come with either one King bed or two Queen beds.
Guest rooms are generous in size. They include a flat-screen TV, cable, free Wi-Fi, coffee maker, mini-fridge, ironing board, bottled water, and safe.
Décor is simple with neutral colors and tiled floors.
I had a Superior sea view room. After brewing a cup of delicious Dominican coffee, each morning I sat on my balcony enjoying the soft breeze and watching the waves break against the shore.
Food and Beverage with a Dominican Twist
I could also see one of the resort’s two pools from my room. Surrounded by lush, tropical gardens, the pools are served by the Bohio Bar. At the larger pool, you can swim up to the bar, or you can get a beverage to go and head over to a lounge chair. Dominican rum is the alcohol of choice for most of the high-octane drinks.
If you’d prefer to sit at a table with friends, the area leading to the beach has several seating areas with umbrellas. Nearby is the walk-up Garden Bar where you can pick up cappuccinos, juice, beer, wine, and spirits.
Most meals were served at the La Terraza Buffet. Hot tables offered up a variety of meat, fish, and vegetable dishes (many are local specialties) and in a separate area, you could choose more delicate small plates and desserts. No reservations were required and dress was casual.
At the La Costa Tex-Mex a la carte restaurant, you needed a reservation. Table service and higher-quality wine was available here and guests were dressed more smart casual.
One night, my friends and I decided to watch a soccer game. The indoor Pub had a large flat-screen TV, seats at the bar, and a barman who took pride in serving handcrafted cocktails including the Dominican specialty Mama Juana, made with rum, red wine, honey, and herbs.
Getting Active at Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort
As for other amenities, while I was there the gym and InSense spa were being renovated and not open. But I did some gentle yoga on the beach, and noticed beach volleyball, a tennis court and kayaking were also available. Plus, there was a kids’ club.
In the evening, I joined other guests clustered in front of the outdoor stage to watch an entertainment show featuring dance, comedy, and music. This is a nightly occurrence. Casual and informal, it was good fun.
Ready for Special Events & Weddings
For those who might want to hold a special event or conference here, there was 3,000 square feet of meeting space with four rooms that could accommodate up to 500 people.
Coral Costa Caribe Beach Resort also offers wedding services. They have a wedding coordinator who will organize the ceremony setup on the beach and bring in a civil judge for the service. Flowers, music, photography, and a customized buffet menu can also be arranged. In addition, the resort offers wedding invitees special accommodation rates.
