Defying its desert location, water buffs will feel right at home at The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. Located about 45 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, in Henderson, Nevada, there’s a number of ways guests can make a splash during their stay.
The long driveway, lined with tall palm trees, leads to the main entrance. The hotel layout is fairly straightforward, but with 493 rooms, it takes a little bit of time to learn your way around at The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. The lobby, though at street level, is located on the 4th floor, and different elevators access different rooms. However, one trip to your room and it all makes sense.
Traditional King Rooms deliver everything you’d expect from a Westin property. Alongside the king bed, my fifth-floor room offered a small sitting area with ottoman. The bright blue loveseat popped against the room’s predominantly brown color scheme. Easy to reach electrical plugs and USB ports were conveniently located on both sides of the bed, and at the long and slender desk on the other side of the room. The desk provided a nice space to spread out and charge travel gear, or if necessary, open up a laptop computer and get some work done.
Along with a coffee maker, a small refrigerator is located in the entry way, across from the bathroom. Well lit, the bathroom offers one sink, but the vanity provided plenty of room for two. The bath tub/shower combination is stocked with Heavenly by Westin Spa toiletry products.
Despite calling the desert home, the resort offers a number of noteworthy water features. Its backyard is the 320-acre, manmade, Lake Las Vegas. Along with two large pools, there is a kids’ pool and a small waterpark-esque area for kids complete with water slide. (Dive-in movies are held on Friday and Saturday nights, Memorial Day through Labor Day.) A short stretch of sand provides a scenic spot to sit and enjoy Lake Las Vegas. Kayak and stand up paddle boards (SUP) are available to rent.
There are a half-dozen dining options to choose from at the resort, ranging from Marssa Steak & Sushi, to poolside Sandsa Bar & Grill.
The onsite g Aveda Spa Lago, is a full-service spa and salon with 11 treatment rooms. Reflection Bay Golf Course is located across the street from the Resort. The Westin offers complimentary transportation to the 18-hole golf course.
The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa is located just under 20 miles from the Las Vegas strip, and about a half-hour from McCarran International Airport.
Room rates can range from $89 to $299, depending on time of year. The Westin Lake Las Vegas charges a $29 per room per night Resort Fee. The Resort Fee includes a number of things including: Self-Parking, Daily Newspaper, Complimentary In-room Bottled Water, and one-hour of Complimentary Kayak Rental. Basic Wi-Fi, strong in-room, but inconsistent throughout the resort, is also included in the Resort Fee. Compare rates at Hotels.com or your favorite hotel booking site.
