Mummy Hot Dogs Recipe
Autumn and Halloween are delightful opportunities to get creative with lunch options and recipes that kids will love.
My kids are big fans of hot dogs—Ethan enjoys vegetarian versions, while Emma prefers her Applegate Farms hot dogs.
With a simple twist, you can transform hot dogs into fun “mummies” that make lunchtime more exciting.
This recipe is quite adaptable; you can skip the cheese or use homemade dough instead of store-bought. Regardless, it’s all about having fun!
Ingredients:
- 1 can Crescent Roll Dough (or homemade dough)
- 2 slices of cheese
- 8 hot dogs
- 16 candy eyes
- Cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Slice each cheese slice into 4 strips.
- Unroll the dough and cut it into 4 rectangles, crimping the diagonal cuts to seal the edges.
- Slice each rectangle lengthwise into ½-inch strips and join two strips to create one long “bandage”.
- You will have 10 pieces, totaling 40 strips of dough. Cut the cheese slices into quarters.
- Wrap a “bandage” around each hot dog along with a quarter slice of cheese, ensuring to leave space for the face.
- Place the wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down) on a non-stick cookie sheet and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until the dough is lightly golden.
- Add a small piece of cheese where the eyes will go and return to the oven to melt slightly.
- Top each mummy with two candy eyes.
Have you tried any fun modifications with your kids’ hot dogs?
